We have RAISED £47 014 since 2004!
We are a group of friends in Glasgow who set up a COMPLETELY NON-PROFIT MAKING charity committee in 2004 in memory of Denis McGonagle, who died in 2002. We have donated ALL the monies raised after each event to our chosen national charity.
The Mac Ball was created to provide a fun, charity event for those who wanted to have fun, raise money for good causes but who did not have bottomless pockets, such as some charity events require. This was born from some of us having been to previous charity events where we found, after paying for our pricey ticket, we could not contribute further as we did not have thousands to bid on auctions or were not able to afford £50 raffle tickets. We do not pay for celebrities, media coverage or prizes.
We also used these events as opportunities to educate people on things such as local charities, prevention of skin cancer, warning signs to seek help about from your doctor through written information within our free goodie bags for each guest, which also contained goodies from Tunnocks, Irn Bru, About You Paisley, to name a few (see sponsors page).
We all work full time jobs and run The Mac Ball in our spare time and had planned to run biannual events. If you wish to help, have any ideas or run a charity you wish to be considered as the benefactor of our next event please
We hope to see you again! Check back later for new updates to our website. There's much more to come!
Thanking you,
Gerard & Claire.
